Last 17th of May we celebrated, as usual, our Letras Galegas Day. It is one of the most important dates for our culture.
As you may know, this date conmemorates the publishing of Cantares Gallegos in 1863, by Rosalía de Castro. Every year it is dedicated to a Galician writer who has passed away and has been important for Galician literature.
This year Letras Galegas honoured Xela Arias, a Galician writer who worked as a teacher, a translator and of, course, as a writer.
We learnt a lot about her life and work, and created some pieces inspired by her literary works:
We decorated this bookmark and also created a cootie catcher:
Our schoolmates from Preschool created these beautiful murals and a postcard:
Our schoolmates from Primary also composed these two original murals, wich contain some of ther most famous works and some facts about her life. Did you know that Xela used to work in Santa Comba as a teacher?
We also watched the video below. In it, you can watch Yolanda Castaño, a Galician writer, speaking about Xela Arias' biography. We enjoyed it a lot! Here you can watch it:
How did you celebrate Letras Galegas this year? Have you read any of Xela Arias' books? Tell us in the comments!
The first Sunday of May we celebrated Mother's Day. We created a lot of beautiful gifts for our moms. Do you want to see what we did?
Our schoolmates from Preschool created these original necklaces for their moms. We love the circle pattern!
Also in Preschool were made these heart-shape postcards. We bet their moms loved them! We surely did!
Our schoolmates from 3rd grade also created a gift for their moms. They painted these canvas bags with flowers. A beautiful and also very useful present!
Did you like our gifts? How did you celebrate Mother's Day? Tell us in the comments!
Last 23rd of April we celebrated on the school the International World Book Day. It has always been a very important date for us and we always try to make our students appreciate the importance of books and literature and, of course, the pleasure of reading.
We made a lot of activities to celebrate this date. Look what out schoolmates from Preschool did:
These beautiful bookmarks inspired by the tale "El Monstruo de Colores" made by our 3-year old schoolmates.
Our 4-year old schoolmates created this gardening manual. Isn't it original?
5-year olds created some amazing books about Spring. They are fantastic! Here you can see some of them:
Our schoolmates from 3rd and 4th grade created these beautiful bookmarks. We enjoyed a lot the process of making them!

The 24th of February we celebrated Rosalia de Castro's day in our school. We read some of her poems and saw some videos about her life and work.
It was so much fun!
We also did some art work about her. Check out the medals our schoolmates from Preschool did:
We also painted some bookmarks about her:
It was very enjoyable to learn more about such an important figure to Galician and Spanish literature. It seems that we could speak about her forever! Don't you think?
What about you? Which is your favourite book by Rosalía de Castro?
